Preventative Health & Wellness
Annual Health Checks & Vaccinations
Annual health checkups ensure that your horse remains happy and protected against disease and parasites.
We perform routine vaccinations and can also advise on appropriate worming and nutritional needs.
- Hendra
- Tetanus
- Strangles
- Equine Herpes
Microchipping, identification & Branding
Ensure the ownership of your horse with micro chipping and branding.
We are registered with the Australian Stud Book to brand, identify and DNA test thoroughbreds.
Diagnostics
Ultrasonography (Ultrasound) & Radiography (Xray)
With the latest imaging technologies we can accurately diagnose your horse in the field. Digital imaging is particularly useful for identifying:
- Hoof and lameness assessments
- Soft tissue injuries
- Dental issues
- Soundness issues in performance horses
Endoscopy (Scope)
Scoping is a vital diagnostic tool that allows us to visually examine the internal structure of your horses respiratory and digestive systems. It enables us to identify respiratory and gastrointestinal disorders such as:
- Gastric ulcers
To encourage regular checkups we run scoping days from our base in Tuncester. Please contact us to find out when the next scoping day is planned.
Equine Dentistry
DENTALS
Regular dental check ups and floating are essential to overall wellness. With the use of gentle sedation and power tools, we keep your horses’ teeth correctly balanced, perform dental examinations and tooth extractions (dental surgery) to ensure your horse is in optimal condition.
With the help of our portable dental crush, we are able to assist with:
- Dental float using power tools under sedation
- Surgical tooth removal (wolf teeth or damaged/diseased teeth)
You are welcome to coordinate a dental day with horse owners in your area to save on travel costs.
Lameness & Laminitis
LAMENESS ASSESSMENTS
We have a special interest in equine lameness, particularly laminitis, and by using digital imaging equipment and examination techniques such as nerve blocks, we can identify the underlying cause and determine appropriate treatment.
- Corrective shoeing advice
- Hoof trimming
- Laminitis workup (blood testing)
